Last weekend I had the pleasure of wandering the magnificent surroundings of Stagrennan Farm & Orchard with some really great people. Oh, and there may have been a fashion photo shoot at some point. Have a look-see...
What's The Big Idea?
The idea for this shoot came to me while browsing random photos online, looking for some inspiration I guess. I came across some images of an orchard and instantly knew I wanted one as a location.
On a whim, we started to contact the few orchards that appeared to have an internet presence. We didn't really have much luck at first. But, it wasn't long before we were pointed in the direction of Olan McNeece of Stagrennan Farm. Olan agreed to give us the run of the place for a day, and with that, it was on!
With the location secured and the basic idea in hand I set about putting the word out for a decent fashion stylist. I initially got a lot of interest from many talented people but one email entitled 'You just found a stylist:-)' stood out from the rest for me. Its author, Kate Harris of Sugar Coated Ramblings, wrote with such passion and enthusiasm that I felt she deserved a chance. Also, I already knew her, having worked with her in her capacity as a model. You may remember her piercing gaze from my Dun Loaighaire Fashion Shoot not so long ago. So, I already knew that she was easy to get along with and fun to have around on a shoot.
Kate took care of pretty much everything from this point on. She found us two fantastic models, Paloma and Jessica (you can grab their details at the end of this post), and a great make up artist, Katy Harrison of Bare your Beauty - Make up by Katy.
On the day of the shoot, everything thing went pretty much to plan. The location was amazing, the weather was great ( for the most part) and everyone seemed to get on and have a really good time. I know I did.
Anyways, I'll shut up for a bit as I could probably ramble on for hours. Go ahead and peruse a small selection of the images we came up with...
A huge, gigantic thanks has to go out to Olan McNeece and his Family at Stagrennan Farm for being so welcoming and literally giving us the run of such a fantastic location. We had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. Kate's conversation about eating pigeons with Grandpa McNeece was a definite highlight of the day. As was meeting Mr. Kazimierz Mikolajczak and Luna the dog, who helped us out on a few shots. I even managed to learn some stuff about how apples are grown.
And last but not least, everyone listed below made my job almost too easy and deserves a big double high-five and a chest bump.
Kate nailed the style right down to the fine details. Katy's makeup complimented the outfits excellently. Our models, Paloma and Jessica were a joy to work with. I just pointed the camera at them and cool stuff happened. Easy! And I must not forget my diligent assistant, without whom I would probably need to have an extra set of arms grafted to my body.
Everyone did great, but also, thanks for such a fun day out, in the sun, surrounded by nature. What more could a guy want?
